About Me

I am a writer, editor and communications strategist with nearly 10 years of experience writing for daily and monthly publications. Currently, I am the director of communications for the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UAB. Prior to joining UAB in 2021, I was the associate editor of UVA Today, the daily publication of the University of Virginia.

My writing has taken me across the country and across the pond to London. I have covered topics including the arts, architecture, business, engineering and politics, and events ranging from tragedies to political rallies to NCAA national championships. Before joining UVA, I worked with startup education consulting firm Expartus LLC, multinational design firm Gresham, Smith and Partners and digital marketing agency OttoPilot Media.

My favorite thing about my work is meeting someone new, learning why they do what they do and trying to capture and tell their story. Everyone has a story; it’s a privilege and a joy to share those stories with the world.
